Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! I hope you have a good, reliable source for paczki. I'm having homemade ones I made with my mom yesterday
Anybody observing this lovely holiday? Along with the day of fasting that comes after? (for those who observe Lent)

Some kids I know gave up talking for lint. They do talk to teachers and anybody else that is of much importance to them, but besides that they keep their mouths shut.
The writings on the wall
They said that you'd be gone, but if you call my name.
Just know that I'll come running....
For one more night, to spend with you.
This is where I'm meant to be
Please don't leave me!

One of my favorite things about being Atheist, I don't get criticized (as much) for not partaking in Lent. I do know someone, however, who is giving up Facebook.

Sig by Nov :D
I think I saw you in my sleep, darling
I think I saw you in my sleep, you were stitching up the seams
Of every broken promise that your body couldn't keep
I think I saw you in my sleep.

Haha, I gave thought about giving up the internet. Then I realized I kinda need it to do scholarships and finish fafsa and important stuff like that. And I might be a little bored too. But even giving up facebook...that would be so hard! See how dependent I've become...

I gave up Lent for Lent. There's so much more productive stuff I could do during the entire year, than dedicating a month to giving up something, which I will just start doing again once that month is over. If anything, I'd dedicate a month to doing something, rather than not doing something.
Ranting aside, I wonder how many people gave up masturbation for Lent, across the globe.

Lol good question!
Well, the real aspect of Lent isn't just about giving something up. When I was in grade school it was always just, give up something. But really, you're supposed to give up something and use it to help others. Example: I give up buying something to drink at the vending machines every day at school. Instead of paying $1 a day for something I want, I donate that dollar to the collection drive my school is having or some other charity. Or, you can donate time instead of money. Example: Instead of spending all Friday night playing video games or partying, I volunteer with a youth group for 2 hours. The whole point of Lent is prayer, fasting, and alms giving, not just giving something up

Oh right, now I remember that Vicar of Dibley episode, they talked a lot about Lent. Most of it in a humorous light, but still. Although, every time they would break the rules, they'd just have to pay something like a pound every time. ah, memories
