This should have been started a long time ago, but somehow I never got around to it. So, the Olympics are closing today in Vancouver, BC. I guess this is going to be a post discussion thread... So, what are your thoughts, favorite moments, and other impressions of the 21st winter games?

I'll just start with this list:

1.) Vancouver is definitely a place I'm looking forward to visiting. I love the mountains!
2.) Apolo Anton Ohno.
3.) Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso were awesome! Especially Lindsey skiing through that deep bruise.
4.) Shall I list the way Vancouver effed up?
-Opening Ceremony: Looks like someone doesn't get to light the indoor torch...at least there's the one outside...
-...that people apparently can't view close up because of a chain link fence?
-Really, how do you not cover those beams on the luge course?
-Well, you really can't control the weather. But still...
-Green zambonis? Let's not go there.
5.) Look out for Mirai Nagasu in 2014! Her long program was amazing, bumping her from 6th to 4th place, just out of a medal spot. But for a 16 year old, that's pretty awesome!
6.) Going Canada-USA-Finland for the medals in both men's and women's hockey is pretty funny.
7.) Of all people, WHY did it have to be Crosby?
8.) Poland gets more medals than any other Winter Olympics before! Yay Poland!
9.) USA GETS THE MOST MEDALS OF ALL!!!
10.) I should have been there...but I won't go into it.
11.) It amazes me every time Canadians sing their anthem, how extremely proud of their country they are.
12.) Apolo Anton Ohno...did I mention him already?

So, any thoughts?

edit: So everyone who told me Wayne Gretzky missed out on lighting the torch in the Opening Ceremony lied to me and ignored me when I said, I'm pretty sure it was some girl. Well, guess who was right?

I loved the whole hockey thing, that made me laugh.
I never speak in third person, only out of character.

It was also Australia's most successful winter games aswell... didn't mention that one did ya?

Plus to think that Torah Bright didn't finish her first round in the snowboarding halfpipe, and ended up winning.

Shows how much attention the world actually pays Australia >.>
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I actually watched Torah and she was awesome! The entire time I was like, I really want to try snowboarding, so maybe next winter if I get a lot of snow around here during a break I may go up to a small hill an hour away and rent a snowboard. And I think this winter games was a success for pretty much everyone...except Russia.

And really, the only reason I mentioned USA and Poland is because I'm Polish-American, so I know about how they did, so all the Polish people are celebrating getting the most medals in their country's history, USA is celebrating getting the most medals overall, I'm sure Australians are happy about getting the most medals in their history, Russia's pissed and firing all their coaches/"requesting" they resign, and all the other countries are celebrating their athletes as well.

....Apolo Anton Ohno. ;)
